ABOUT US

FreeFlow was born from a simple wish: space to move, connect and play — especially on sleepy Sunday mornings in Utrecht. What started as “just an Ecstatic Dance” quickly grew into something bigger: a vibrant, flourishing community.

A place where we don’t just dance — we land, we breathe, we feel, we heal.

At FreeFlow, we believe movement is medicine. In a world that pulls us into our heads, we create space to drop back into our bodies. Through dance, breath, and shared presence, we reconnect with what’s alive inside: tension, joy, vulnerability, softness, whatever shows up.

We’re not here to perform. We’re here to move — to explore what it means to be fully in the moment, with ourselves and with each other. Whether you arrive flying high or dragging low, the dance floor welcomes all of it. And we always leave the session a little more cracked open, a little more grounded and soft.

Our core values?

Embodiment. Connection. Community. Play.
Our mission? To get more people out of their heads and into their bodies — one beat, one breath, one crazy dance move at a time.
You could almost see it as cheap therapy ;)

Let’s dance it out. See you on the floor.

  • Breathwork facilitator , embodiment trainer, yoga teacher, systemic worker & Ecstatic Dance organiser

Eline dedicated last years to the holistic approach of body and mind and supports people in exploring their internal processes and emotions, to gain a deeper connection with themselves and others.

Eline gets really enthousiatic about bringing people together and let them explore themselves through creation in all forms and believes in the power of community. That´s one of the wishes for the platform FreeFlow.

When Eline discovered Ecstatic Dance, it made a huge difference to sense the inner and outer world on all levels, and to make life more playful! She believes in the power of giving ourselves full permission to explore every colour we carry within us.

  • DJ, Community builder, Event organizer, Breathwork coach & Yin Yoga teacher

Laura is a creative spirit who is a world music enthusiast, festival & event organiser and loves to bring talented people together so magic can happen.

What better way to combine these ingredients than to set up your own Ecstatic together with your friends?

As a global groove DJ, she was inspired to add Ecstatic Dance DJ-ing to her skills and sprinkle her fairy dust to get people connected to the moment, their bodies and each other to create the FreeFlow tribe….

  • Facilitator, Trainer, Cycle Awareness Coach & Ecstatic Dance organiser

Janneke is a seasoned group facilitator with a strong foundation in bodywork, personal development, and feminine cycle awareness. As a trainer in leadership and founder of Cycle to Cycle, she guides people in connecting with their rhythm — physically, emotionally, and cyclically.

For the past five years, Ecstatic Dance has been an essential part of her life. To her, movement isn’t optional — it’s a way to feel, process, and fully live. On the dance floor, she meets every layer of herself and of life. With FreeFlow, she creates spaces where others can do the same — letting life move through them, one beat at a time.

And most of all: have fun, be wild, be weird, go slower than slow — crazy kid style :-)

ecstatic dance

“Isn’t that when a bunch of hippies are screaming their lungs out whilst rolling around on the floor barefoot and the DJ plays spiritual music?”

No, but also maybe yes. It could be. And let us explain how we see it and how we’ve shaped FreeFlow into a down to earth and authentic dance experience.

We love embodiment, movement, connection and especially playfulness. We also enjoy doing this sober and so our dances get narrowed down to something we call ‘ecstatic dances’. As embodiment practitioners, breathwork facilitators, creative spirits and open minded women based in Utrecht we realised our city and many of our friends were missing a place to come together to do exactly this.

It is becoming more mainstream to use movement as a tool to connect to yourself and be in the moment. To flow with whatever is present within you in that moment, to not judge yourself or others and just be. We also are major advocates of making these experiences accessible and brought in a way everyone feels welcome. This translates into taking the ‘spiritual’ edge off it, so it feels more inclusive for all ages and all communities.

So yes, you could be rolling on the floor if that’s what you feel like or need in that space and time and you might encounter a roar within a dance when a drum and bass note hits the sweet spot.

Curious and maybe a little nervous? We get it, we’ve been there. An Ecstatic Dance is a great experience to try by yourself as you don’t have to talk to anyone and can flow in your own rhythm and time. We have heard from many first timers how easy and accessible we made it so we hope this might make that first step a little easier ;) Hope to see you on the dance floor!
